Biography
Michael Dussek, born on February 24, 1958, is an English pianist specializing in chamber music and song accompaniment. He was educated at St John's College School, Cambridge, Radley College, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Dussek made his debut at Wigmore Hall in 1980. From 1979 to 1999, he collaborated extensively with cellist Ofra Harnoy, winning a Canadian Juno Award for Best Classical Album in 1989 for their RCA recording of sonatas by Schubert and Prokofiev. He has performed internationally with notable violinists such as Cho-Liang Lin and Ryu Goto, including major recital tours of Japan and Carnegie Hall. His discography included over 20 CDs featuring neglected British composers on Dutton Epoch. Notable recordings include York Bowen's Piano Concertos 1â3 with the BBC Concert Orchestra under Vernon Handley, and Edmund Rubbra's Violin Sonatas with Krysia Osostowicz, which was nominated for a Gramophone Award.
