Biography

The Metropole Orchestra, a jazz and pop orchestra based in the Netherlands, was founded in 1945 by Dolf van der Linden. Known for its versatility across various musical forms, the ensemble has been led by notable conductors including Rogier van Otterloo, Dick Bakker, Vince Mendoza, and Jules Buckley. The orchestra has collaborated with prominent artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Al Jarreau, and Tori Amos, and has been a regular feature at major festivals like the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Holland Festival. The orchestra has produced over 150 albums, including Al Jarreau and the Metropole Orkest - Live (2012) and Peter en de Wolf (2014), as well as contributed to thousands of television and radio broadcasts.
