Biography

Melike Şahin (born on April 18, 1989 in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer. Developing an interest in music during childhood, she studied singing at the Contemporary Music Centre while she was in high school. As well as performing as a vocalist with Turkish alternative group Baba Zula, Sahin created Melikşah ve Saz Arkadaşları, giving arabesque concerts at the Kanto tavern in Beyoğlu. In 2017, Sahin featured on the soundtrack of Djam (film), giving a concert at the Cannes Film Festival prior to the film’s release. In 2017, she released two singles, "Bi' fırlatsam" and "Deli Kan" followed by "Uykumun Boynunu Bükme" in 2021, the lead single from her first studio album Merhem, released in February that year. Since then, Sahin has released a further five singles, including collaborations with Turkish singer Mert Demir on "Pusulam Rüzgar" (2021) and French electronic/acoustic duo Ko Shin Moon on “Isyan” (2022). In February 2022, Sahin released her live album Merhem: İlk Konserler before embarking on a European tour. In November 2024, her album AKKOR was released.
