Biography

A French specialist on the cornet à pistons, Médéric Collignon began his career with the Orchestre National de Jazz in 2000, before joining Le Sacre du Tympan and MegaOctet from 2004 to 2009. With his group Jus de Bocse, he explores the legacy of Miles Davis on the albums Porgy and Bess (2006), winner of a Victoire du jazz, and Shangri-Tunkashi-La (2010). Meanwhile, with his other band Septik, he revisits Ennio Morricone in an electric way. In 2009, he received the Django d'or award from the Académie du Jazz and was made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. After a tour through the repertoire of King Crimson and Robert Fripp, À La Recherche du Roi Frippé (2012), awarded at the Victoires du Jazz, Médéric Collignon and Jus de Bocse explore the film music of the 1970s in the album MoOvies, released in 2016.
