Biography
Cari Cari is an Austrian indie rock duo consisting of Stephanie Widmer (vocals, drums, didgeridoo) and Alexander Köck (vocals, guitar). The two musicians live in Europe and have lived in London, Hamburg and Vienna, among other places. Their music is described as a mixture of influences from The Kills and The xx, complemented by elements of Ennio Morricone. they released their debut EP Amerippindunkler in 2014. This was followed by tours across Australia with gigs in Darwin, Cairns and Melbourne. The songs "No War" and "White Line Fever" were used in the US TV series Shameless and The Magicians. their debut album Anaana was released in 2018 and received positive feedback. the EP Welcome to Kookoo Island followed in 2022. In March 2025, they released their third album One More Trip Around The Sun. They have received several awards for their work, including the XA - Austrian Music Export Award in 2017/2018. in 2022, they received the FM4 Award at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards.
