Robert Walker Jr. (born February 19, 1937), known professionally as Robert âBilboâ Walker, was an American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Clarksdale, Mississippi. Inheriting his fatherâs nickname, Walker taught himself guitar, piano, and drums after meeting Ike Turner. He was noted for his flamboyant showmanship and imitations of Chuck Berry. Walker performed in Chicago, Illinois, for 17 years with his friend David Porter before relocating to Bakersfield, California, where he farmed cotton and watermelon. While farming, he performed in local bars and on visits to the Delta. Walker released the albums Promised Land (1997), Rompin' & Stompin' (1998), and Rock the Night (2001). He appeared in the documentary films M for Mississippi (2008) and I Am the Blues (2015). In 2016, Walker opened the Wonderlight City juke joint and toured Israel. He performed at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in 2017. Walker died from cancer in California on November 29, 2017. In 2018, the Killer Blues Headstone Project placed a headstone at his grave in Clarksdale.
