David Adedeji Adeleke was born on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, United States. However, the future Nigerian artist, known by his stage name Davido, was raised in Lagos. It wasnât until he was 16 that he returned to the United States to pursue a degree in business administration in Alabama. During this time, he developed a passion for music and began recording instrumentals. After a stint in London dedicated to music, he returned to Nigeria and resumed his studies, this time in music. In 2011, he released his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, produced by Spellz, Shizzi, Maleek Berry, and others, which blends Afrobeats and rap. The album spawned the singles âBack Whenâ and âDami Durro.â In 2013, he released a series of independent tracks: âGobeâ, âOne of a Kind,â âSkelewuâ , and âAye.â Two years later, he returned with the album The Baddest. Numerous artists have collaborated with him, including P-Square, Akon, Uhuru, Wale, and Trey Songz. In 2016, he released a five-track EP, Son Mercy , and kept his fans engaged in the years leading up to his next album with tracks like âFallâ in 2017 and âAssurance â in 2018, which would be included on the album *A Good Time* in 2019. This album also features collaborations such as âBlow My Mindâ with Chris Brown and âD & Gâ with Summer Walker. Without delay, he released A Better Time âwhich features the duet with Nicki Minaj, âHoly Groundâ âthe very next year, before taking a three-year hiatus to complete Timeless in 2023. This fourth album, which explores a wide range of stylesâfrom ragga to afropop to dancehallâfeatures numerous guest appearances, including Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, and The Cavemen. Rapper Focalistic appears on the single âChampion Sound.â The album peaked at No. 10 in the UK and No. 37 in the U.S. After collaborating with Latto on âUnavailableâ, Davido teamed up with Chris Brown on âSensationalâ (featuring Lojay), followed by âTitaniumâ, included on the album 5ive (2025), which features a host of guest artists including YG Marley, Shenseea, 450, Victony, Musa Keys, Becky G, Omah Lay, Odumodublvck, Chike, and the French artists Tayc and Dadju. Shortly thereafter, Davido promoted 5ive on the international 5ive Alive Tour, while âWith You,â recorded with Omah Lay, earned him another Grammy Award nomination in 2026. He was also inducted into the 2026 class of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta. On July 31, he celebrated his 15-year career with Oriadé, his sixth albumâa 13-track project preceded by âI Know Who I Beâ featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay and âGimme Dat Tingâ featuring NO11. The album also features Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, Fola, and Llona.
