Matthis Pascaud is a French guitarist, composer and producer born in Angoulême on December 26, 1989. He began his musical apprenticeship on percussion before discovering rock, blues and jazz, which led him to the guitar, which he studied at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Bordeaux, then at the Centre des musiques created by Didier Lockwood. In 2015, he formed the Square One quartet with Christophe Panzani (saxophone), Pierre Elgrishi (bass) and Karl Jannuska (drums), which recorded an eponymous EP the following year. He then accompanied Haitian singer Moonlight Benjamin and won the 2018 La Défense Jazz Festival competition. That same year, Matthis Pascaud released the first album under his own name, Shake (2018), followed by Clap Clap (2019) and Night Trippin' (2022), a tribute to Louisiana musician Dr. John, who had died three years earlier. In 2022, he also produced Marion Rampal's album Tissé. In 2025, the guitarist reunites Christophe Panzani, bassist Elise Blanchard and drummer Raphaël Chassin.
