Biography

Matthew van der Want, a South African singer-songwriter and recording artist born in 1972, released his debut album Turn on You in 1997. The album was recorded by Lloyd Ross of Shifty Records in 1996 and featured collaborations with Jennifer Ferguson and Ian Herman. Van der Want collaborated with Chris Letcher on two albums, Low Riding (1998) and Bignity (2002), both nominated for awards at the South African Music Awards. He also produced a tribute album to Koos Kombuis called Kombuis Musiek in 2002 and released several solo albums, including Play My Way. His song "Pianist" was used in the 2010 movie The Bang Bang Club and in 2012, he released another album, Outstanding.
