Masashi Ishihara (born August 6, 2004 in Okinawa Prefecture) is a young Japanese enka and song singer with a deep knowledge of Showa-era songs and exceptional vocal ability. His talent was recognized by legendary producer Muneo Wakamatsu, who discovered Seiko Matsuda when he was a junior high school student, and he made his debut in 2020 with "Tahara Shiroyama Kusamakura. She is a versatile artist who also plays the sanshin (Okinawan three-stringed instrument) and accordion. In 2023, he released his first album, "Masashi Ishihara Showa Utao wo Utau (Masashi Ishihara Sings Showa Songs)," and has been highly acclaimed for his ability to freely express himself singing everything from authentic enka songs to songs of youth. On March 11, 2026, he released his fifth single, "Sarana: Hanamonogatari. This song is a winner that makes full use of his elongated singing voice, and it is filled with his determination to be a standard-bearer for the next generation of enka singers. He continues to breathe new life into the Japanese music scene as a "Showa Music History Doctor" who carries on the spirit of the good old Showa period into the present.
