Biography

Martina Janková, born in 1972 in Orlová, Czech Republic, is a notable opera singer known for her soprano roles. She studied at the Music Academy of the City of Basel and the International Opera Studio Zurich. In 1995, she won the International Singing Competition "New Voices", Operetta Prize, marking an early breakthrough in her career. Janková joined the ensemble of the Zurich Opera House for fourteen years, performing under notable conductors such as Nikolaus Harnoncourt and William Christie. Her roles included Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in Così fan tutte, and Angelica in Händel's Orlando. She also collaborated with the Salzburg Festival, debuting in 2000 as the First Lady in Luigi Cherubini’s Médée and returning for various roles over the years. Janková has released several albums, including Haydn: Recollection and Bach: Cantatas.
