Antonio MartÃnez Ares, born on February 8, 1967 in Cádiz, Spain, is a musician, poet, and singer-songwriter known for his significant contributions to the Carnaval de Cádiz. His career began in 1984 with his first comparsa, Requiebro, which marked the start of his involvement in the carnival scene. In 2004, he released the album Por MartÃnez Ares, showcasing his songwriting skills and social commentary. He composed the soundtrack for the film Cosas que hacen que la vida valga la pena that same year, featuring the title track "Cosas que hacen que la vida valga la pena" performed by Pasión Vega. In 2016, after a 13-year hiatus, MartÃnez Ares returned to the Carnaval de Cádiz with the comparsa Los Cobardes, winning first prize. He also released the album of the same name that year. He subsequently won multiple awards for his compositions in the carnival, namely five first prizes.
