Biography

Marina Baranova, born on August 5, 1981, in Kharkiv, Ukraine, is a German-Ukrainian pianist and composer. She began her musical journey at age five, passing an entrance exam for the music high school for gifted children in Kharkiv. At 11, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Ukraine, leading to her first concert tour in Finland. Baranova moved to Hannover, Germany, in the late 1990s to study under Vladimir Krainev at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. Her career took off with numerous international awards and performances across Europe, Israel, Latin America, and Thailand. Notable appearances include the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, and collaborations with orchestras such as the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken and the Leipzig Gewandhaus-Quartett. Baranova's discography includes albums like Hypersuites (2016), Unfolding Debussy (2018), and Atlas of Imaginary Places (2021). She has also composed works, including her album Firebird (2013).
