Biography

Alejandro Alonso was born on August 14, 1952, in Querétaro, Mexico. He started his musical career playing guitar in bands during his teenage years. After a spiritual conversion in 1971, he began composing and developing his vocal skills. Alonso moved to California in 1980 and worked with Calvary Chapel and Maranatha! Music, releasing his first solo album Cántico de Libertad – Song of Freedom in 1982. He toured extensively in Latin America and pastored Hispanic groups. Notable albums include Alguien – Someone (1992) and Tu Santidad Me Envuelve – Your Holiness Surrounds Me (1994). Over his career, he recorded nine solo albums and has been recognized as an influential artist in Spanish-language contemporary Christian music. He died on January 31, 2022, at the age of 69.
