Marcus Canty, born January 22, 1991 in Washington, D.C., is an American R&B singer. Raised in Landover, Maryland by his single mother, Canty began performing at age three and discovered his singing talent at eleven. His breakthrough moment came during the first season of The X Factor USA, where he was eliminated in the semi-final round. Following his appearance on The X Factor, Canty signed a recording contract with Epic Records in January 2012. In March 2012, he released his debut single, "Won't Make a Fool Out of You", which charted at number 98 on Billboard's R&B chart and was featured in the film Think Like a Man. Canty released his debut extended play, This... Is Marcus Canty, on March 5, 2013, debuting at number 114 on the US Billboard 200.
