Biography

Marc Andrew Gunn (born March 17, 1972) was an American Celtic folk musician, autoharp player, and podcaster from Texas. Gunn rose to prominence as one-half of the duo Brobdingnagian Bards with Andrew McKee, performing weekly at the University of Texas at Austin and headlining the Lord of the Rings Oscar party. He released his debut solo album, Soul of a Harper, in 2004. In July 2005, Gunn launched the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, which won Best Podsafe Music at the Podcast Awards in 2009, 2010, and 2017. Following the duo's 2008 split, Gunn released numerous albums, including Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers (2005) and Going for Brogue: Irish Pub Songs and Sea Shanties with an Accent (2008). His recording of “Rising of the Moon” won Best Roots Traditional at the 2013 Celtic Radio Music Awards. Recent recordings included Selcouth (2022) and Dancing With Hobbits (2024).
