Biography

Main Concept is a German rap group from Munich formed in 1990 by David Pe, DJ Explizit, and Human D. Initially gaining traction on regional stages and jams, they released their debut single "So hat das Volk den Verstand verloren" in 1993. Their first album, Coole Scheiße, was released in 1994, marking the start of the "Klasse von ’94" tour with Absoluten Beginnern and MC Rene. Their second album, Genesis Exodus Main Concept, was released in 1998 on Deck8 after parting ways with Move Records. In 2000, they released the album Plan 58. In 2005, they released Equilibrium featuring artists like Eizi Eiz and Denyo. After a decade-long hiatus, they returned with the album Hier und jetzt in November 2015, which reached number 55 on the German charts. They subsequently released the album Main Concept 3.0 (2021), which reached number 33. Their music is characterized by its old-school hip-hop style and introspective lyrics, often reflecting on hip-hop culture and their own technique.
