Biography
Maihuen de Los Ãngeles is a Chilean folk group formed on October 30, 1988, in Los Ãngeles by Luis Rivas and Gloria Poblete together with their children. For more than three decades, the ensemble has been dedicated to preserving and promoting the cueca, becoming one of Chile's leading traditional folk groups. Their discography includes the studio albums Maihuen de Plata, La Cueca Es Nuestra Esencia, Los Chamantos de mi Chile, Sentimientos, and De Amor y Desencanto, as well as several compilation albums. The group has performed at rodeos, folk festivals, and major cueca championships throughout Chile, and competed at the Festival del Huaso de Olmué in 2006 with "Los Chamantos de mi Chile." In 2024, Maihuen de Los Ãngeles opened the festival and received the GuitarpÃn Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of its lasting contribution to Chilean folk music.
