Biography

Maggie Margaret Estep, born on March 20, 1964 in Summit, New Jersey, was an American singer, writer and spoken‑word poet. After leaving formal studies, she entered New York’s underground scene, performing with the group I Love Everybody and later collaborating with Recoil. Her debut single "Hey Baby" appeared in 1994, leading to a contract with NuYo/Imago and the release of the album Love is a Dog From Hell in 1997. She also notably toured with Hole and appeared on Lollapalooza, MTV’s Spoken Word Unplugged and HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. Maggie Margaret Estep died of complications following a heart attack on February 12, 2014 in Albany, New York.
