Biography

Maanam, a Polish rock band formed in 1975, emerged from the Polish hippie movement. The group's name is believed to derive from either the altpersian word for "I am" or an abbreviation for a duet between Marek Jackowski and Milo Kurtis. Their debut performance occurred in 1976 with Kora (Olga Jackowska), Marek Jackowski, and Milo Kurtis. After Kurtis left, John Porter joined, and they released their first single with the group Dżamble. Maanam's self-titled debut album was recorded in 1980 and featured hits like "Gleboko W Sercu". The band continued to release albums such as O! (1982), Night Patrol (1983), and Nocny Patrol (1984). They achieved significant success with albums like Derwisz i Anioł (1991), which included the hit "Wyjątkowo zimny maj". The band disbanded in 2008.
