Lustral is the collective name of British trance duo Richard âRickyâ Louis Simmonds and Stephen Christopher Jones, born in the United Kingdom in the 1960s and 1970s. Their early career began under the pseudonym Ultra High, when Simmonds and Jones released "Stay With Me" in 1995, reaching number 36 on the UK Singles Chart and gaining club attention. The duo soon adopted the moniker Chakra, with the 1997 single "I Am" climbing to number 24 on the UK chart and attracting the remix work of Sasha and John Digweed. In 1997 they also released Lustralâs debut single "Everytime" on Hooj Choons, which peaked at number 60 in the UK but reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart; a 1999 remix reissue later attained number 30 in the UK. The partnership expanded with the 1999 album Shine as the Space Brothers, featuring the hit "Legacy (Show Me Love)" (number 32 UK) and a remix disc mixed by Paul Oakenfold. Lustral continued to issue singles such as "Broken" (2002, number 83 UK) and the unreleased "The Price We Pay for Love", while releasing compilation albums Interpretations (2008) and Lustral Presents Trance Classics (2009). Throughout the 2000s the duo signed to Manifesto and Lost Language, collaborating with artists including Kate Cameron and Tracy Ackerman, and maintained a presence in the trance scene with sporadic releases until the midâ2010s.
