Biography

Lucrezia Bori was a Spanish operatic soprano born as Lucrecia Borja y González de Riancho on December 24, 1887 in Burriana. Bori achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by roles in works including Manon Lescaut and Madama Butterfly. She achieved professional recognition for a career that began after studying at the Conservatorio de Valencia and in Milan. Her recording career began in 1914 with the label Lebendigide Vergangenheit. Bori achieved professional recognition for her debut at the Teatro Adriano in Rome as Micaela in the work Carmen (1908). She achieved professional recognition for performing at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York between 1910 and 1936 where she debuted alongside the musician Enrico Caruso. Her discography included the studio recording Mignon and the studio recording Iris. Bori achieved professional recognition for performing in the premieres of the work Louise and the work L'Oracolo. Her musical career included performing alongside the musicians Beniamino Gigli and Antonio Scotti. Bori achieved professional recognition for founding the Metropolitan Opera Guild in 1935. She died on May 14, 1960 in New York.
