Lucie Skeaping, born Lucie Finch in London, is a British singer, instrumentalist, and broadcaster. Following training at the Royal College of Music, Skeaping co-founded the ensemble The City Waites, which performs 17th-century English broadside ballads and dance music. During the 1980s, Skeaping worked as a children's television presenter for programs including Play School, The Music Arcade, and Make Music Fun. Skeaping appeared as a member of the Michael Nyman Band in the film The Falls (1980) and performed with the ensemble The Sadista Sisters. To explore her Jewish heritage, she founded the klezmer group The Burning Bush. Skeaping toured and recorded for labels including Saydisc, Hyperion, and Decca. Skeaping became the presenter of the Early Music Show on BBC Radio 3. Her publications include Broadside Ballads (2006) and Singing Simpkin and other Bawdy Jigs (2014).
