Florinda Grandino de Oliveira, known professionally as Linda Batista, was born on June 14, 1919, in São Paulo, was a Brazilian singer and composer. She began her music career by accompanying her sister, Dircinha Batista, on the guitar during her performances. In 1936, she replaced her sister on Francisco Alves's program on Rádio Cajuti, where she gained positive public recognition. She was named Brazil's Rainha do Rádio (Queen of the Radio) by 1937. Her first recordings were released in 1938, and she signed with Victor Records in 1940. She recorded numerous hits throughout the 1940s and 1950s, including "Batuque no morro" (1941) and "Vingança" (1951). Batista toured extensively in Brazil and internationally before retiring from active performance in 1960. Linda Batista passed away on April 17, 1988.
