Biography
Named after the subtitle of Rameau's opera Les Fêtes d'Hébé (1739), the Parisian ensemble Les Talens Lyriques specializes in the Baroque opera repertoire on period instruments, and has accompanied harpsichordist and conductor Christophe Rousset since 1991. Through recordings and stage productions with various conductors and directors, the group has associated its name with vocal and instrumental works by François Couperin, Handel, Mondoville, Rameau, Du Mont, Mozart(Mitridate), Pergolesi(Stabat Mater), Leclair, Lully, Jommelli, Salieri, Gluck, Bach, Purcell, Cimarosa, Martin y Soler and Monteverdi, most of whose operas and other sacred works it performs. Her repertoire extends to other composers such as Beethoven, Cherubini, Berlioz, Massenet and Saint-Saëns. The best-known recording is the soundtrack to the hit film Farinelli (1994), featuring castrato voices. The ensemble also accompanied the three volumes of Véronique Gens' Tragédiennes series, published between 2006 and 2011, and recorded thematic albums such as Miserere: Music from the Royal Chapel Naples (2006), The Bach Dynasty (2007) and Les Grandes Eaux de Versailles (2008). He also collaborates with Joyce DiDonato(Furore: Handel Opera Arias, 2009) and Teodora Gheorghiu(Arias for Anna de Amicis, 2011). In 2011, Les Talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset return to the repertoire of Italian castrato Farinelli, performed by Swedish mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg at the Bergen Festival. After the Couperin & Moi recital (2018) with Christophe Rousset, the ensemble is working on a production of Gounod's opera Faust (2019).
