A French singing duo from Reims, Les Sœurs Étienne consisted of Louise, born on September 3, 1924, and Odette, born on March 21, 1928. Passionate about singing, they seized the opportunity in the aftermath of the Second World War to bring the rhythms imported from across the Atlantic to France, adapting the great American jazz and swing hits of the era. In their early days, they performed in Parisian cabarets, but once they had become professionals, it wasn't long before they were touring extensively, both in France and abroad. Their career didn't last so long, however, as they decided to gradually devote themselves to their family life from 1955 onwards, leaving behind them numerous hits, including "C'est si bon", which they were the second after Jean Marco's recording with Jacques Hélian's orchestra to have recorded, before Yves Montand recorded it himself. Their repertoire also includes songs such as "Rien dans les mains, rien dans les poches", "Plus je t'embrasse", "Le manège aux souvenirs", "Après la pluie, le beau temps", "Qui sait, qui sait, qui sait?", "Chacun son bonheur", "Au pays des merveilles", "Cinq minutes de plus" and "Faire le tour de France ". Returning to song for nostalgia's sake in the 1980s, the Sœurs Étienne were the subject of numerous compilations, including C'est Si Bon in 2001, before Louise passed away on March 22, 2016 in Paris (aged 92) and Odette on July 18, 2013 in Asnières-sur-Seine (aged 85).
