Biography

A parodic French chanson group, Les Goguettes En Trio, Mais à Quatre takes its name from the goguettes, secret festive gatherings whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, and from the fact that the quartet is made up of four singers, including a female singer and keyboardist. Bringing together brother and sister Stanislas Monnier and Clémence Monnier, Aurélien Merle and Valentin Vander, the group was formed in 2013 during evenings at Le Limonaire in Paris, and quickly put together a show based on covers of popular songs whose texts are twisted to create a parody in line with current events. After concerts in various Parisian venues, the group recorded the album Le Changement, C'Est Doucement (2017), featuring parodies of Diane Tell, Céline Dion, Village People, Carlos, Claude François, Henri Salvador, Brigitte Bardot and Jacques Brel, which they presented on a tour from Paris to the provinces, including the Festival d'Avignon in 2018. Two years later, with their second album Globalement d'Accord (2019) already available for listening on music platforms, featuring a new series of hijacked melodies, Les Goguettes enjoyed a sharp rise in audience numbers in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the aptly titled "T'as voulu voir le salon". The latter, inspired by Jacques Brel's "Vesoul", is taken from a third concept album dedicated to the subject of the virus, entitled Le Temps Béni de la Pandémie (2020). Now in vogue, Les Goguettes are the subject of a documentary entitled Les Goguettes, le parti d'en rire, and embark on a long tour of theatres, before celebrating their tenth anniversary at the Olympia in Paris. In 2024, Les Goguettes returned with the album Troisième Quinquennat, which made an appearance in the French physical sales charts.
