Biography

Le Butcherettes is a Mexican garage punk band formed in Guadalajara in 2007 by vocalist and guitarist Teri Gender Bender. The group's early live performances featured 1950s theatrical props, artificial blood, and a real pig head, which received acclaim in the Mexican underground scene. Their debut EP, Kiss & Kill, was released in 2008. The band followed with their debut studio album, Sin Sin Sin, on May 10, 2011, which was produced by Omar Rodríguez-López. Their subsequent studio albums include Cry Is for the Flies, released on May 15, 2014 through Ipecac Recordings, and A Raw Youth, released on September 18, 2015. The 2015 album was also produced by Rodríguez-López and featured guest appearances by John Frusciante and Iggy Pop. After touring with acts such as the Deftones and Queens of the Stone Age, the band recorded material at Stinson Beach in 2017, which led to the release of the album bi/MENTAL on February 1, 2019.
