Biography

Born on 28 September 2003, in Portsmouth, England, Lauren Spencer-Smith is a Canadian singer-songwriter who first rose to fame after appearing as a contestant on the eighteenth season of American Idol in 2020, finishing in the Top 20. In 2021, she cast her net further afield when her self-released song "Fingers Crossed" made it into the Top 20 in various countries, including the US—where she secured a Number 19 position on the Billboard Hot 100—the UK, where it went to Number 4, and Australia, as well as it rising to the top of the charts in Norway and Ireland. The world-conquering success of "Fingers Crossed"—a heart-on-your-sleeve breakup track written by Lauren Spencer-Smith, along with Fransisca Hall and Jakke Erixson, and produced by Erixson—was given a popularity boost largely thanks to the track going viral on TikTok. In 2022, Lauren Spencer-Smith scored another round of success with "Flowers," which was co-written and produced by Cian Ducrot and made it to number 17 in the UK. Her autobiographical debut studio album Mirror arrived the following year and went to number eleven in the UK.
