Biography

Formed in 1993, La Ruda, formerly known as Ruda Salska, immediately established themselves as the French representatives of committed, festive ska-rock. After two successful self-productions, the band joined the Yelen Musiques label for a while, releasing their explosive live album, La Ruda Salska en Concert (2000). Then, in 2004, the band took a decidedly rockier turn, abandoning the suffix salska (which had become a little sticky and reductive) in favor of a more expansive musical approach. This is reflected on Les Bonnes Manières (2007), an album of songs revisited in an acoustic format, and on their ninth album, Grand Soir, released in March 2009. La Ruda returns to incisive guitars in 2011 for the bleeding-edge Odéon 1014.
