Biography

Hailing from Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis), French hip-hop group La Caution was formed in 1996 around brothers of Moroccan origin, Hi-Tekk (Mohamed Mazouz) and Nikkfurie (Ahmed Mazouz). Accompanied in their early days by DJ Fab, they became part of the Les Cautionneurs collective and toured with the group Assassin in 2000, before signing with the Kerozen Music label, which released the EP Les Rues Électriques, followed by the album Asphalte Hurlante (2001), featuring collaborations with Taïro and graffiti artist Profecy. The album was very well received, and an expanded edition of eighteen tracks was released in 2002. After a collaboration with L'Armée des 12 for the album Cadavre Exquis (2002), the Crash Test EP with Château Flight followed, and the double album Peine de Maures / Arc-en-Ciel pour Daltoniens (2005), which reached number 81 in the charts and included a guest appearance by China Moses and a first version of the cult track "Thé à la menthe", remixed in 2007 and regularly appearing in the charts of music recognition sites and listening platforms following its appearance in the film Ocean's Twelve. Meanwhile, La Caution released another double album of live recordings and remixed tracks, La Caution Rend Visite aux Gens / Des Gens Revisitent La Caution, in 2006, featuring Oxmo Puccino, Enhancer, Eda, Mai Lan and dDamage. The duo continue to perform live and host radio shows.
