Biography

Lô Borges, born Salomão Borges Filho on January 10, 1952, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, is a Brazilian musician and singer. He co-founded Clube da Esquina and at age 18 collaborated with Milton Nascimento on the album Clube da Esquina (1972). Their collaborative compositions included "Paisagem da Janela" and "Para Lennon e McCartney." Lô Borges' self-titled solo debut —known as the “tennis shoe” album— After a brief hiatus, he reappeared on Clube da Esquina 2 (1978) and went on to record A Via-Láctea (1979), the family project Os Borges (1980), and solo albums including Nuvem Cigana (1982) and Sonho Real (1984). He consolidated his melodic blend of MPB and rock on later works such as Meu Filme (1996), Feira Moderna (2001), Um Dia e Meio (2003), Bhanda (2006), Harmonia (2007), and Horizonte Vertical (2011). A career highlight came in 2003 when he co-wrote “Dois Rios” with Samuel Rosa and Nando Reis for Skank, leading to renewed mainstream recognition and a live collaboration on Ao Vivo no Cine Theatro Brasil (2016). In his later years, Lô Borges released Rio da Lua (2019), Dínamo (2020), Muito Além do Fim (2021), Chama Viva (2022), Não Me Espere na Estação (2023), Tobogã (2024), and Céu de Giz – Lô Borges Convida Zeca Baleiro (2025). His death on November 2, 2025, marked the end of a five-decade career rooted in poetic introspection and melodic innovation. was released in 1972.
