Kostas Hatzis, born on August 13, 1936, in Livadeia, Greece, is a Greek singer-songwriter and musician of Romani origin. He began performing at local events with his father at the age of 16. By 1957, Hatzis moved to Athens and started recording in 1961. His breakthrough came in the mid-1960s with the Greek New Wave movement, where he collaborated with notable composers such as Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis. Notable releases include O Kostas Hatzis Tragouda Miki Theodoraki (1966) and Kostas Hatzis - Ouai (1973). Hatzis toured the United States in the late 1960s and was invited to meet US President Jimmy Carter. Throughout his career, he released over 20 albums, including collaborations with Marinella.
