While considered a bona fide pop star in both her native Kosovo and Albania, it wasnât until 2020 that singer-songwriter Kida broke into the German-speaking charts with her single âParanoia.â Born Orhidea Latifi on December 21, 1997, in the city of Rahovec, she made her debut in 2014 with the single âMurder,â whose accompanying video was released through the video-sharing channel Arkiva Shqip. That same year, Kida dropped âRikthejm naâ with Albanian-Kosovo rapper MC Kresha, her first single for the Zzap & Chriss-owned label, OnRecords. In 2015, she featured on Mozzikâs âPremtimet,â which became incredibly popular in Albania and Kosovo, and scored her first charting hit with âSki Ide,â reaching Number 4 on the Albanian Top Channel charts. Over the course of the next few years, Kida produced a handful of domestic chart-topping hits such as âUh Babyâ (2016) with Xhensila, âTiâ (2018), âDeja Vuâ (2019) with Lyrical Son, and âTelaâ (2019), featuring singer Ermal Fejzullahu. She collaborated once again with Mozzik in 2020 on the singles âParanoiaâ and âPishmon,â both of which achieved pole position in Albania and charted in Switzerland. Kidaâs crossover attempts finally paid off in 2021 when she reached Number 23 on the German charts with the single âLila,â featuring rapper Samra.
