Katamine is a collaborative musical project originating from Israel, led by singer and songwriter Assaf Tager. After graduating from the London Music Academy, Tager began his career playing guitar for Elliott Smith and Beth Gibbons, and scoring string arrangements for Moloko. Upon returning to Israel, he formed Katamine, releasing their first EP Katamine in 2004, which included a cover of "Pacific Coast Highway" by Sonic Youth. The following year, the band released their debut full-length album Lag, featuring collaborations with Uri Frost and Sharon Kantor, and a cover of "Creep in the Cellar" by Butthole Surfers. In 2006, Katamine produced their concept album Forest of Bobo, accompanied by illustrations from Seth Tobocman. The band also served as the opening act for Devendra Banhart's concert in Israel that year.
