Biography
Real name Kani Nkshon Shorter Jr, American rapper Kanii was born in Washington D.C. on August 2, 2005. He began his musical career in 2018 at the age of thirteen with a first track dropped on a listening platform, "So Long". From 2022 onwards, singles and EPs accumulated at a steady pace, culminating in an international hit in 2023 for "I Know", his first recording for Masked/Warner Records, which went from viral status to enter the official U.S. or U.K. charts (#50 in Canada and Ireland, #90 on the Billboard Hot 100, #64 in the U.K.). Kanii scored three more hits the same year with "Go (Xtayalive 2)", "Heart Racing" and "Sins (Let Me In)" (#14 on the Dance & Electronic Songs charts). In parallel, the Kosia (2022), Relieve (2022), Lucent (2022), Archive.zip (2022), Lucent 2 (2022), Exiit (2023) and It Was Nice Knowing You (2023) EPs were released, before a collaboration with Riovaz and Nimstarr on The Heart Racers (2024). In 2025, after the singles "Skin" and "Less Than" comes the #Blue EP.
