Kalmah, a Finnish melodic death metal band from Oulu, was formed in 1999 by the Kokkon brothers and Petri Sankala after Ancestor broke up. Their debut album Swamplord was released in 2000 under Spinefarm Records, marking their breakthrough. In 2001, they released They Will Return, followed by Swampsong in 2003. Kalmah gained significant attention with albums like The Black Waltz (2006), For the Revolution (2008), and 12 Gauge (2010). The band continued to release albums, including Seventh Swamphony in 2013 and Palo in 2018.
