Biography

Joy Zipper was formed in 1999 by Tabitha Tindale and Vincent Cafiso in Long Island, New York. The duo’s first release, the self‑titled Joy Zipper, appeared on EyeQ Records and was later issued in the United States by Bar/None Records, establishing their presence in the indie pop scene. In 2002, the band released American Whip, produced and mixed by Kevin Shields and David Holmes, and later distributed by Vertigo/Mercury Records in the United Kingdom and Dangerbird Records in the United States; the album featured the track "Baby You Should Know", which gained exposure on the television series The O.C.. The following year, The Heartlight Set was issued in the United Kingdom, and the single "1" was released in 2005, receiving airplay on television commercials and the series One Tree Hill. Joy Zipper’s work has been featured in various media, including Grey’s Anatomy and Nike campaigns, and the band contributed covers to tribute albums for The Pixies and The Cure. The duo continued to tour internationally, supporting acts such as Air and Franz Ferdinand, and maintained a presence in the indie pop circuit until the early 2010s, with no further studio albums released after 2005.
