Biography

Johnny Daye, born on March 17, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was an American soul music singer. He began his career in 1965 when he signed to Jomada Records and released his first single "Marry Me / Give Me Back My Ring". Daye was discovered by Otis Redding and subsequently signed to Stax Records, where he recorded notable tracks such as "What'll I Do for Satisfaction", produced by Steve Cropper. This song was later covered by Janet Jackson on her 1993 album Janet. Other significant releases include "Stay Baby Stay" and "I'll Keep on Loving You". In 2007, Daye came out of retirement to contribute vocals to two tracks on Robert Peckman's solo CD Stirrin' Up Bees. Daye passed away on May 6, 2017.
