Joel Adams was born on December 16, 1996 in Brisbane, Australia. He shot to fame in 2012 when he covered Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's song "The Girl Is Mine" on the X Factor Australia TV talent show, where he competed under the name Joel Goncalves. He released his debut single "Please Don't Go" in November 2015. It managed to climb the charts in Australia, but also in Canada, Sweden, Norway and the UK. In just a few months, the song reaches the impressive milestone of one hundred million listens, while the video for the song is viewed more than forty million times. He then signed to Will Walker Records, a label based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and spent most of 2016 recording new songs between London, Stockholm and Paris.
