JoaquÃn Emilio Bedoya Gómez was born in Frontino, Colombia, on 10 February 1943, and became a prominent singer in the parrandero genre. His musical journey began in his early teens with family gatherings and informal performances, and he made his first recording in the early 1960s with the single âEl espantoâ, which helped establish him as a rising talent. Bedoyaâs discography expanded steadily through the 1970s and 1980s with albums such as El Corbata Gastador (1974), Aguardiente pal Chofer (1977), and Camina Pa Allà Negrita (1982), featuring hits like âAguardiente pal Choferâ. Throughout the 1990s he continued to release music, including El Doctorotico (1987) and Ojo Con Eso (2002), while receiving recognition including a gold disc from Discos Victoria in 1992 for thirty years of artistic activity and the Medalla del Escudo de Antioquia in the gold category in 1996. Bedoyaâs career continued to be celebrated with later releases including El Disco de Oro, following his death on 21 November 2014 at the age of 71 due to complications from cancer.
