Michel Joseph Simon Maffrand, known professionally as Joan de Nadau, born in 1948 in Cier-de-Luchon, France, and is a French singer-songwriter. He began his career as a professor of mathematics before transitioning to music full-time in 2006. De Nadau started his musical journey with the group Los de Nadau in 1974, which later became known simply as Nadau. The group's first performance was on February 10, 1974, at Tarascon-sur-Ariège. He composed and wrote all of Nadauâs songs, often in Béarnais or Gascon. Notable singles include "Monsur lo regent" (1975), "De cuu au vent" (1991), and Carnet de chansons (2006). The group performed at prestigious venues such as the Zénith de Pau and Olympia in Paris, with live recordings released from these performances. De Nadau made significant contributions to French chanson, noted for his storytelling abilities and accordion skills.
