Biography

Jigsaw were a British pop-rock band formed in Coventry and Rugby in 1966. The original line-up included Dave "Biffo" Beech, Clive Scott, Barrie Bernard, Tony Campbell, Tony Britnell, and Kevin "Beppy" Mahon. Initially known for their blues-rock style, Jigsaw's debut studio album Letherslade Farm was released in 1970 on Philips Records. The band gained notoriety for their raucous live performances, which often included pyrotechnics and property damage. In the early 1970s, Jigsaw's main songwriters Clive Scott and Des Dyer achieved a hit with "Who Do You Think You Are", recorded by the band Candlewick Green in 1974. Jigsaw's breakthrough came in 1975 with their first single for their own label Splash Records, "Sky High", which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Top 10. This success was followed by several singles and albums, including Pieces of Magic (1977) and the soundtrack for the controversial film Home Before Midnight (1979). Despite these releases, Jigsaw struggled to maintain commercial momentum. The band disbanded in the early 1980s after several line-up changes. Following the group's dissolution, Clive Scott and Des Dyer continued their songwriting careers, with notable recordings by artists such as Bad Boys Inc and Boyzone. Clive Scott passed away in 2009. In 2020, the remaining band members reunited and released the track "Angels and Heroes".
