James Ray, known professionally as Jimmy Ray, was born on October 3, 1970, in England. He is a singer who began his music career as part of the techno-pop duo AV (Alternative Vision) with Graham Drinnan in 1994. The group signed to Sony S2 Records but did not release any recordings before Ray departed from the duo in 1996. Ray's breakthrough came with his debut single "Are You Jimmy Ray?", released in November 1997, which reached number 13 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and the UK Singles Chart. His self-titled album Jimmy Ray was released in March 1998 but only in the United States. In 1998, he followed up with "Goin' to Vegas", which peaked at number 47 on the UK Singles Chart. Later that year, Ray embarked on a U.S. tour with the Backstreet Boys and released the promotional single "I Got Rolled". After a hiatus, Ray announced his comeback in November 2015, leading to the release of Live to Fight Another Day in October 2017 under La Rocka Records.
