Jovan Campbell, known professionally as Jibbs, was born on November 13, 1990, in Saint-Louis, Missouri. He began his rap career at a young age, initially aiming to impress his older brother DJ Beatz, who was gaining recognition for his collaborations with rapper Nelly. Impressed by Jovan's talent, DJ Beatz invited him into the studio to record songs that gained local and regional popularity. Jibbs signed with Geffen Records at nearly 16 years old and released his debut album Jibbs Feat. Jibbs on October 24, 2006. The album's lead single "Chain Hang Low" became a significant hit, topping the rap charts in August 2006 and being downloaded over one million times as a ringtone. The album itself reached number 11 on the Billboard 200. In 2007, Jibbs released a music video for his single "Smile" and participated in the Price of Fame tour with Bow Wow and Lloyd. He continued to release notable singles such as "The Dedication (Ay DJ)" and "J Walk" in 2009, and "Runnin Thru 100" in 2016.
