Jonathan Kovacs, known professionally as J-Five, was born on March 26, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. He is an American singer and rapper, raised by a French father and Austrian mother, and the eldest of four children. Growing up in North Hollywood, Kovacs was influenced by classic rock bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones, as well as hip-hop artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, and Wu-Tang Clan. J-Five began his music career with the single "Modern Times" in 2004, which sampled Charlie Chaplin's Les Temps modernes. The accompanying music video featured Dolores Chaplin, the director's granddaughter. This release reached Number 1 on the French Top 50 chart and earned a silver disc certification. Six months later, he released the single "Find A Way", followed by his debut album Sweet Little Nothing in June 2006. The album included notable tracks such as "Modern Times" and "Find A Way". His song "Movin on Up" was featured in the closing credits of the 2005 film Camping à la ferme.
