Jeffrey Gaines is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He signed to Chrysalis Records in 1990 and released his self-titled debut album, Jeffrey Gaines, in 1992. The album’s first single, “Hero in Me,” received radio and MTV airplay. His second single, “Scares Me More,” featured a live acoustic cover of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,” which brought additional attention to the release.
