Biography
Jeffrey Wootton, born on May 12, 1987, in Manchester, England, is an English musician and songwriter. He began his career as a musician at a young age, eventually becoming the lead guitarist for Gorillaz's live band in 2010. Wootton joined Gorillaz alongside Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash, participating in their first world tour, which included performances at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Glastonbury, and Roskilde. In July 2017, Gorillaz embarked on the Humanz Tour, featuring notable guest performers such as Vince Staples and Pusha T. Wootton has collaborated with various artists, including Damon Albarn, Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Liam Gallagher, and Noel Gallagher. He also contributed to the Africa Express project in Mali, recording an album with local musicians. In 2016, Wootton released his solo album The Way the Light, a collaboration with British artist Damien Hirst.
