Biography

Born on February 21, 1900 in Paris (France) and died on March 6, 1988 in Coubert (France), Jeanne Aubert was a French actress and singer. She began her career in 1920 with a role in the musical Miousic. The same year, she played a supporting role in Robert Péguy's film Être Aimé Pour Soi-Même . In 1925, in the musical revue Très Excitante, she created a song that made her a household name in Paris, entitled " Si tu vois ma tante " (" If you see my aunt "). In 1928, for the first time in her career, she starred in the film La Possession . From 1930 to 1933, she performed mainly on Broadway in New York, in musicals including Princess Charming in 1930, America's Sweetheart in 1931 and Melody in 1933. In 1934, she turned to the cinema. Jeanne Aubert recorded two musical films in Hollywood the same year, then made six feature films in France in 1935 and 1936. At the same time, she achieved success with two songs in 1935: " Tiens moi bien contre ton cœur " and " Blow, Gabriel, Blow ". From 1936 to 1939, in addition to roles in films and musicals, she pursued her singing career with several songs, including " Si tu reviens ", " Le Cul sur la commode " and " Ne me dis pas merci ". After a break of several years in the 1940s and 1950s, she returned to the silver screen in 1957 in Marc Allégret's L'Amour Est En Jeu, followed the same year by Sénéchal le Magnifique. She starred in three more feature films in the 1960s: Les Croulants Se Portent Bien in 1961, Les Ennemis in 1962 and Un Monde Nouveau in 1965. In the 1970s, she had small roles in the TV series Les Saintes Chéries and Madame Êtes-Vous Libre? She then retired from the artistic world and died on March 6, 1988, in a retirement home in Coubert, Seine-et-Marne.
