Janek Ledecký (born Jan Ledecký in Prague, Czechoslovakia, on July 27, 1962) was the lead singer of the rock band Žentour before going solo. Composer, guitarist and performer, he founded Žentour in 1981 and made three albums with what was one of the country's most popular bands, each recorded in Czech and English. After a decade, Ledecký felt the need to develop a career of his own, and began work on his first solo album, Na ptáky jsme krátký, released in 1992 on the Popron Music label. He scored several hits with each new album, successively recording, for the B&M Music label, the opuses PrávÄ teÄ (1993), Jenom Tak (in public, 1994), NÄkterý vÄci jsou jenom jednou (1995) and Sliby se maj plnit o VánocÃch (1996). Testifying to his local popularity, the compilations NejvÄtšà Hity in 1997 and Promilujem Celou Noc in 1999 bring together his greatest songs. Meanwhile, Ledecký signed with Ariola for the album MÃt Kliku (1997) and wrote the music for the film Hamlet (1999), based on Shakespeare, whose themes he used again for a symphonic album released in 2001, followed by a rock opera in 2012. Ledecký subsequently released several other albums, including Unplugged (2019) and Symphonic (2022).
